Hi Bill
Whew....$10-12K just to get the high spots. Wow, I'm in the wrong business! **smile**

I have a similar situation on my colonial, although my gable apex is only about 36' up.

What I did was to build a high-rise scaffolding, using 2X6's, platforming, cross bracing and anchoring every 8' to my masonry, using lead anchors and metal strap. It took me a full day to put up the scaffolding and 3 hours to remove all the paint from the attic window wood work and fascia, prime and double coat repaint.....and I did it for a heap less than $12K! You need a good eye for designing and securing the scaffolding...oh, and it helps to love doing this kind of thing!
