I have always found that XIM primer works best for bonding to metal, though I have never seen it in a spray can. Just because I havn't seed a spray can of XIM doesn't meen that they don't make it. XIM is an adhesion primer and in it's brushable formm it can be a bugger to use. It will, however give you absolutly the best protection against chipping.
