Hi, Stephanie. Ktbear certainly gives the best instructions for painting vinyl tile or linoleum that I have every heard. The manufacturers go to great lengths to provide a product that nothing will stick to for easy cleaning. Now you want to paint it and, guess what, paint will not stick to it either. The manufacturers provide great abrasion resistance so sanding to provide a surface that paint will stick to is extremely tough. I guess that you could rent a floor sander for hardwood floors and sand all the way through the tile or sheet goods and then paint the underlayment. That would look pretty awful but better than painting the tile or linoleum. At least the paint would stick.

Stephanie, buy new tile.
