Maria........clean your walls well with alcohol - it will remove any grease - and not leave a residue.

Prime with one coat of Glidden Ultra-Hide Gripper - finish with two coats of Glidden Evermore Satin or Semi-Gloss - or Ultra-Hide Eggshell or Semi-Gloss - in you choice of color.

If you panelling has a pattern - you will still see it through the paint. The only way around that is to remove it and install drywall - just install thin drywall over it - or hang a liner paper over it and paint that.
