I just got off a website at discovery.com because I wanted to paint my kitchen countertops (fake butcherblock). I did a search for "laminated countertops" to find it. It said said surface with fine sandpaper; prime with Kilz or Binz, paint with whatever color you want or sponge-paint, whatever, then topcoat with a non-yellowing (acrylic?) polyurethene paint - at least 5-6 coats! Sounds like a lot of work to me. I think I'll use fine steel wool and wax mine with car wax to shine it up.
