Hi, Beverly. Check the post below on "Painted Exterior Brick" dated 8/12, "Painting Brick and a shingled roof" dated 8/5, "Painting the brick in my fireplace a different color" dated 6/28 and "Removing paint from brick" dated 6/23. I recognize that most of the answering post are from the same people but I think that most of us have the same feeling about painting brick, whether it be the whole house or just a fireplace. Someday you will want the paint removed and that is a very difficult and expensive job. Better that you should look at installing a surround or mantle to break up the color mass. And I am old enough to remember when pink and charcoal was the "in" color combination. It may come back again.
