Painting fireplace

Posted by Sharon on November 18th, 2000 12:22 PM

We just recently moved in a 10 year old house with a blonde (ugly) brick with taupe swirls and taupe grout exterior. They also made the fireplace the same color. From what we saw this fireplace didn't match anything in the house. (white walls, beige carpet, off white trim) Getting a good picture. We have changed the wall color to a warmer beige and have white trim. Now we are ready for the fireplace. I was thinking staining first, then if we didn't like that - painting. If we don't like that then we are going to cover the whole thing with wood or something. Anyway, what I want are how to's. I have already read all the discouragements about doing the color change so don't even go there. We are going to change the color someway. Does anyone have the know-how to get me started?
