Hi, Jackie. The very first step is to search the board for posts on painting concrete basement and garage floors. You can easily do this by hitting control-f and typing "concrete" in the box (no quote marks needed. Then read and click down through the previous posts. I think that you might notice the number of posts that are from people having problems with painted concrete floors and the difficulty in removing the paint.

Laying real tile on the floor is not that difficult. It is easy to pop up the old tile and put down new if you want to change it but the tile will last a lot longer than paint for this application. Finally, with the paint, you can have a big dust problem over time and this is not true with the tile. The paint that you will want to use is difficult to work with and difficult to remove but still can flake off if your floor does not stay bone dry including dampness coming up through the floor.

Painting can be done, but do your homework on the pros and cons before you make a decision.
