I painted mine to change the color about 10 years ago and again last year. Just wash with TSP, use a good quality primer and a good quality paint. I found that paint from a specialty paint store is better than what you can get from a mass merchandiser who also sells tires and t-shirts--if you get my drift. Also, they seem to be more aware of what product to use for the application. Spending a little more per gallon can save you a lot more in time and money in the future. Since you do not have the baked on finish of the original aluminum siding, you will have to repaint about every 10 years but chalking will be evident in by then on the original surface or your repaint.
