painted wood floor, what wood?

Posted by Red on January 10th, 2001 06:33 AM

My wife thinks she'd like a strip wood floor painted white in the dining room. What wood? I'd want something hard so as to not dent from chair legs and something that would hold paint. I thought maybe poplar but the fella at the local paint store said poplar gets a roughness to it when it's painted. He suggested oak. I'd hate to paint over good oak.
