Painted floors in the Bahamas

Posted by Russell Kaplan on April 9th, 2000 10:34 AM

We have recently completed building a cottage in the Bahamas. The floors are plywood painted with low luster gray deck paint. They get scuffed and dirty instantly. We are looking for suggestions to resolve this problem. Among the ideas we are considering are high gloss, enamel, deck/boat paint; self-adhesive vinyl tile (do it myself), rolled linoleum (installed).
We are directly on the seaside of the island and there will be considerable traffic. The weather gets HOT and while we do have central AC there will be unoccupied periods when it gets very hot & humid inside the house. Ceramic tiles at this point are too expensive.
Any ideas or suggestions are appreciated.
