well i just did my fire place. I'll tell you the paint was thick too. here is what I used and it worked great. "Jasco" speed o matic paint stripper and at first a putty knife. it took me about three apps. of jasco for each brick lastly i was using 3m red pads or similar material to sand off last of stripper and paint. when i first started the fireplace was a yellowed white now it looks really nice. the mortar is still white but the bricks are brick red again with just a touch of some lite streaks. an average size FP. it took me about 20 hours. wear gloves and ventilate well. ron
