Hi Deb, I just wanted to let you know that I painted our countertops and put 7 coats of polyurathene (sp) on top of it. I sanded between each coat, and I havent had any problems at all! Make sure to use a hot pad just as you would on any counter top! I suspect that you got the idea from a show on television like I did. My husband and I love our "new countertop" I put a base coat on, then painted "tiles" on...I then glued pictures of old food items on it too. It looks great, and will last long enough till we can get the money for a new one that we really want! Just remember that you NEED to put alot of protection over that paint!!!! And do not place anything very hot on it, but thats just common sense after all. :-) I know that alot of people wont agree with the idea, but like I said before its good enough till we can afford the one that we want!
