I just bought a house with a brick fireplace thats painted a horrible gold color. I would love to restore it back to its natural brick, but I'm afraid that it will be too much work and I'm not sure about using chemicals. I've had people tell me to sand blast it too, but I'm not sure of that either. What would be the easiest way to restore the brick. Also, I was thinking about painting it for now and then eventually having it refaced with either brick or stone. What type of paint could I use and also, is there any type of faux technique or any special textured paint that I could use so it wouldn't look so bad? I know that there is "stone texture" paint that you can get in a spray can, could that be used? Thank you
