If you had a wallpaper previously on your wall and you did not prepare the surface properly by cleaning it with a vinegar solution mixed with water or a TSP substitute then the oil based product will sometimes have a chemical reaction with that adhesive causing the product to brown over a period of time. If you use a primer to kill the stain then your substrate will be sealed and this problem will not occur.
