paint remover

Posted by bathroom guy on July 29th, 1998 04:23 PM

I have a bathroom which has about ten coats of paint over some beautiful old woodwork around the window and door. Last night I noticed some of the paint was peeling, so I picked at it. It came off in big chunks, revealing the original, beautifully aged varnish underneath. The only problem is that some of the paint came up, but not all. Now I have big stripes of paint and varnish on my window trim. My question is this - is there a technique which will loosen up the rest of the paint enough to get it off of there without taking the varnish with it, and making me completely refinish the wood? I was thinking maybe a heat gun would work...
