paint removal and restoration

Posted by elk on January 9th, 1999 12:40 PM

I have a 200 year old stone farm house. The interior
woodwork's original paint (beautiful deep blues) are
underneath a coat of 35-40 year old white paint with
a gloss finish. Desperately want to remove top layer
without destroying the original underneath. The blues
seem to be more like a stain finish with no gloss. Don't know if it is buttermilk paint. Please help!
