For the brick wall, if it is real brick, sand blasting or Peel Away 1 would be effective. For your floors, sanding as a part of the normal refinishing process will work in most cases. Be sure that the floors have enough wood available to refinish by finding where end grain is visible under a molding.

Also, check to ensure that the paint on either the floors or the brick does not have lead in it. Lead check kits are available at the home centers or on line via search engines. The presence of lead would limit your options to chemical strippers or calling in professionals. If you do go with any chemical or mechanical product, be sure to follow the manufacturers direction.
