Dave.........not to be flip......but you don't.

Latex paint - once it is dry - will not come out - no chemicals exist to do this.

Alkyd paint can be removed with lacquer thinner - but that will either melt the fibers of the carpet or lighted the colour.

You only option is to replace the carpet.

Next time - buy a good quality canvas drop cloth
