If you prepare food
on the countertops I would not paint them. If perfection
is not of great concern, I would go to any of the hardware
stores and purchase some laminate and contact cement and
install it on top of the old counter. I know Builders Square
sells it by the foot but Home Depot does not. It really is not
that expensive and relatively easy to install. Make sure the counter
is clean and wipe it down with isopropyl alcohol. Be careful since contact
cement will adhere as soon as it touches. Use some cardboard between the
laminate and countertop to position it and slowly remove the strips and press
it out evenly.
