Our Janitrol blows the thermal fuse every year

My husband calls it the pre-ignitor but our furnace guy says it is the same thing as the thermal fuse in my old dryer that kept blowing. The house does NOT stay evenly warm, and the air that comes out of the ducts almost downright cold. We do have a new, good quality thermostat. This furnace is less than two years old (this is our second winter with it), and we have had the service men back twice a winter to fix it. Good thing we got the extended 12 year warranty. They want us to buy an "upgrade" igniter assembly for an additional $100. I think not.....
