Our catalog home

Posted by KrisDan on August 31st, 1999 08:58 PM

My husband and I purchased a Sears catalog home in April of this year. According to our records and the catalog, the house is a 1930 Maplewood (#3302). We have the original blueprints and abstract of title, which is quite unique. However, after looking at photos of the house in the catalog and our blueprints, we discovered the floor plans are reversed! In fact, the top of the original blueprints say "These plans to be reversed." Was it common to reverse the floor plans on the houses? And, because the house is not "original" as in the catalog floor plans, does this lessen the historical/collector value of the house? BTW, does anyone know where we can find a front entry door?
