sorry i didn`t respond earlier. there are a # of products on the market that etch the rust off before u prime. i forget the type of primer to use, but the final coats should be 100% acrylic. weatherbeater has a new expoxy;kelly moore has a new water based paint that is impressive. benjamin moore has always had the best combo prep/primer in my area. along w/the best guarantee, but that just may be the local owners ideas. stay away from blanket guarantees and deal with someone who has a history of honoring their personal guarantees. Large companies have a tendancy to blame their product failures on the little guy. Their guarantees usually don't mean diddley squat. (Buy the best and use the best when you're painting.)
