carefully and precisely depress the colar and all into the drywall being careful not to go all the way through. What you really want to do is to dimple the thing so that all you have to do is to get some spackle or drywall compound and cover it with your finger.

I would get a nail punch after you have removed the screw and use this hole to put the nail punch. Then lightly tap the colar until its dimpled a bit, then spackle, then paint with a q-tip.

No big deal IF you DON'T go through.
