Hi Michele, you can forget about the string, and the grond
if one is out then the other will be also,
just take the string level, and put it in the garage,( and leave it there,)
hire a sprit level ( thats one that looks like a telecope on a trypod.
now set it up about 30ft from your pool and house, make sure you can see
both when you look through the level, you will see two cross hairs, now
on the side of the level, there will be a bubble, that has tobe
in the middle of the ring that is shown there, now turn the little
knobs ( there are three of them,) get the bubble in the centre, then
turn the scope 90c ( 1/4 of the way round.) look again at the bubble
if its not good then ajust you dont have to keep turning it round and round,
you only need two points to work from.
Ok, now take a lath planed about 5 ft long, have some one hold the lath upright on the highest point
or the lowest point, ( you choose) now look through the scope at the lath,
have the other person draw a line with a pen where the line is when you look at the lath through
the scope, that is your set point.
now hammer a peg ( small lath) in to the grond with you pointer lath standing on top you can then
see how far down/up you must put the top of the peg.
do the at 3 ft spaces, and you then have a level line of pegs from
which you can work from, you can fill in or take out the grond to suit the pegs,
and away you go, .................. John 2000
