Thanks for the info. Your cabinets look great, just what I had in mind. I think I just might go for it. I'm thinking of testing it out on the side of the cabinet next to the refrigerator. That way it will be hidden if it doesn't work out right for me.

One paint salesman I asked, who was one of the folks who said to give it a try, said that I'd have to be very careful about the bottom edges of the cabinets where the bare wood is exposed. Like I said, these are very cheap cabinets, and he said if these weren't primed properly, they'd soak up the paint and swell. My coffee maker was located underneath one of the cabinets and the steam eventually caused the swelling he was talking about. Did you have any problems with this at all?

Also, did you put any kind of protective top coat on the paint?
