Old Residential Wiring

How do you tell the amperage rating or capacity of flexible armored cable (AC) or BX. The conductors appear to be steel, not copper. I have not determined the precise diameter of the conductor, but it appears to be between today's gauge 12 and 14.
Is it 15 or 20 Amp rated? House was built around 1955.
