Old Floor Joists

Hi, I live in a remodeled log cabin that is about 125 years old. The joists under it are simply massive squared logs. One was weakened by insects (long gone) before I bought it. It has slowly weakened over time and the floor needs bracing. It looks like I simply need to add a large wood (I prefer steel) brace under the joist(s) and jack it up. They used to make jacks that you turned every year or two to keep the floor level. Are there any better systems? Any idea where I can find the materials (i.e. jacks) and literature on floor joist repair. Thanks Tons, P Repper
