Bruce, if I understand you, your idea is good for
matching and exiting cut and will give a tight joint,
but if the first cut (the one you are matching to)
is not 1/2 of the real wall angle the molding miter
will be "skewed" from the wall's angle. This may be
ok if the walls are very close to 90, but not so
good if they are signifcantly out of square.
