Was I that 'hard' in my Follow-up that you had to charactarize it as a 'diatribe'?! Geesh! You set the challenge and I contested it. IMO, and it's just my opinion I know, you're over-charactarized it.

Anyway, most roofers, but not ALL roofers, use some type of underlayment. I didn't give bad advice because, like I already said, at the insistance of the homeowner, felt is used. I'm sorry you don't see that by using felt can trap moisture between it and the sheathing and possibly lead to rot. Again, that's OK w/me. You don't have to guarantee my roofs and I don't have to guarantee yours. To each his own.
