oil layer on newly polyurethaned hardwood floor; please help

Posted by regina in IL on March 28th, 2000 11:08 PM

I just polyurethaned my hallway hardwood floor. There are two coats on so far. I cleaned and sanded to the nth degree, allowed 24 hour dry time between the two coats. After the second coat's 24 hour dry time had passed, there was a layer of thin, slick oil on top. It has the consistency of peanut or sesame oil. It is not sticky. I wiped it all off last night, and tonight there's just as much there again. The Minwax can has nothing in the instructions indicating this would happen, and I've found nothing like this in any other postings here. Should I leave it alone, wipe it off over and over until it doesn't come back anymore, or what?
