oil-based paint on an oak tree

Posted by Tanya Wormington on March 4th, 2001 01:06 PM

We had some exterior painting done and DeVoe All-Weather Gloss Alkyd paint was used. When the painter cleaned his brushes and roller, he used paint thinner and slapped the brushes and roller against an oak tree. Now, we have cream colored paint all over one side of the tree and on the roots. Is there anything we can do to remove this that will not damage the tree? Will the paint and thinner on the tree now do any damage to it? Someone, PLEASE HELP!!
