Hey Patrick,

The real deal is gasoline cleans up oil, and tide will clean up gasoline, and rain works pretty nice over the next few years. The problem with the acid deal is that as you said, it etched the concrete. You can't bleach or wash the etched concrete back to a consistent color, but you can apply Muriatic acid to the whole entire driveway to try for a consistent look. Be very careful and wear safety glasses and long clothing. Also make sure you don't leave acid uncovered, and water dilute everything very well after application. Acid is a funny bad bugger and I try to stay away from it, although it does have applications, it is really dangerous stuff.

Sometimes time heals all wounds, I'd also consider waiting a few weeks, months, years before you do anything.
