In reply to When would be the best time to buy heating oil? by missy on August 8th, 2001 11:24 AM [Go to top of thread]

Hi Missy,

My folks live in the Harrisburg, PA area and they just told me yesterday that they can get heating oil for $1.02 per gallon.

As for when to buy, it could be harder to try and time the markets. Try and look at it this way. If you have a 250 gallon tank, a swing of $.05 per gallon would cost (or save) you $12.50. Is it worth the wait for it to go any lower, or should you just take your chances? Your call. You can wait until you 'feel' the market price hit bottom, and as soon as it goes up, BUY. At worst, you will only have lost the price difference between the 2 prices. See what I mean?

Others may have a better Crystal Ball than mine. (I got mine on Sale at K-Mart.) My best to ya and hope this helps.
