Actually, Petr is not too far wrong, Gary. There is a better lubricant and that is talcum powder. Rub it on and into all the spaces between the boards and then walk around on the floor to get it worked in. This can go a long way to solving the problem if the squeeks are coming from the tongue and grooves.

For other solutions, get a copy of the November, 1999 The Family Handyman magazine anc check the article on Page 106. You can get photocopies of the article for $3 by calling 651-994-2215 or the whole issue, if available, for $4 by calling 715-247-5060. The great article on refinishing hardwood floors in the same issue makes this the best deal and you will want the info someday. Even if you have a pro do the refinishing work, knowing what's involved ahead of time is a big help.
