In reply to Not Dried In 3 Years??.... by Dodgeman on May 13th, 2002 12:37 PM [Go to top of thread]

MY HOUSE IS PIER & BEAM & I DID GO UNDER THE HOUSE TO INSPECT FOR OTHER SOURCES OF THE MOISTURE. THERE ARE NO LEAKS & THE SUBFLOORING ABOVE THE FLOOR JOISTS SEEM TO BE DRY FROM UNDERNEATH. THE FLOOR WILL APPEAR TO BE DRY FOR SOME TIME BUT IF IT RAINS THE FLOOR WILL SEEM TO BE DAMP AGAIN. I'VE CHECKED BUT THERE IS NO WATER UNDER THE HOUSE AFTER RAINING SO I DONT KNOW HOW TO EXPLAIN IT.
YOU CAN SEE MY RELUCTANCE TO PAINT THE FLOOR BECAUSE I'M AFRAID THE MOISTURE WON'T BE SEALED BY THE FLOOR PAINT.
I'VE TRIED PUTTING SAWDUST, CAT LITTER & ANYTHING I CAN THINK UP TO SOAK UP THE MOISTURE BUT IT JUST COMES BACK. IF 3 YEARS OF LEAVING THE FLOOR TO "AIR OUT" HASNT HELP I DON'T KNOW WHAT WILL. AS YOU CAN SEE I'M AT MY WITS END & EVERYDAY I WISH I NEVER WOULD HAVE BOUGHT THAT HOUSE!!
