Hi again, Connie:

At 3 years old, the toilet components should not be at fault. However, if you are in a new housing development, you may have lots of foreign matter coming though the water lines that is getting into the supply valve/ball valve assemblies and constricting flow. When this happens, water will try to force past the blockage, often causing flow turbulence which causes many wierd and often loud noises. If you investigate and finds grit, sand, etc, it might be worth putting a filter on your main service line, lest this recur again and again.
