Chris, "Hi".
Its the first time i've heard of putting air "into pipes"
normaly you try to get air out of the pipes.
It sounds like you have a falty inlet vale, try opening it
to its maximum, the see what happens, if that don't work, then
try bleeding "ALL" the air out of your system, it could be
a combination of air/water pressure or loose pipes
loose pipes, I mean they are not fixed to the wall or
the space between each wall clip is too far apart, so the pipe
starts to vibrate, ( you get a banging along the pipes ).
If you care to wait, some one with more experience (knowhow) will
put in their 0.2 cents which maybe better than my 2 pence worth.

PS: try turning off the tap slowly ( it will ease the back presure a little)
