first make sure the patio is not flaking, scaling, or chipping off. You need a good flat surface and one that is stable. Use a good quality leveolor to level out the area.

Then use a mortor or thinset to set the pavers into place. Nothing different than setting bricks on a slab foundation.

The key is a good flat surface, one that is not flaking and one that is clean.

A good quality adheasive like thinset or mortar will do.
