Hi, CBS, you did'nt say what the sub floor was made of
but never mind, you can lay down 3/8" playwood outside
quality panels ( ie: waterproof )you can screw the panels
to the floor, but before you do that, plane the edges of
the panels, so when they meet there is a "v" joint, which
you can fill with a filler, let it dry and sand smooth,
the screws you can sink into the ply in about 1/16" below
the surface, then again use filler, when its all dry and
to your likeing, sand the lot with a hand sander, ( not a
heavy machine sander.) this will give you a good surace to
which to lay your new material on,.
some people fit a wooden strip around the edge along side
the wall, use a dark strip if your floor is light. and the
other way round ( light strip if the floor is dark)
or you can use the same color as the floor,... its up to
