Adri,to raise the pitch of your roof a whole new roof would have to be built. This would mean, removal and disposal of roofing, decking, old rafters.New rafters would then be instaled, new decking, felt and shingles.Any chimneys or vent stacks would need to be extended to legal heights. Is this a gable roof?If so the gable ends would need to be built up to the new height and sided. As to pitch any thing over a 4/12 would do,higher is better but will add to material cost. This is no small job and as you can see the cost would be much more than just replacing your decking and shingles.Hope I have given you some info to help you make the choice.Luck
