Your post is not clear. I assume you did not build a new home.
Some late 1950s early 1960s houses used a master control box usually housed in the attic or near the fuse box.
Your post said fuse panel, so I assume you may have one of these homes.
The system uses low voltage switches that accuate the relays in the master control module. The relays turn lights On and Off. Some setups allow control of all lights from the master bedroom as well.
If you hear a buzzing sound or a hum, it could be one of those relays. I would check it out because it may be creating excessive heat as well.
the system in my friends house always worked very well. If moisture got into the control module you could be having problems. Definitely check it out!!!
