New gutters - advice?

Posted by BGK on June 2nd, 2001 03:32 PM

I'm having the gutters replaced on my house and I'd appreciate some advice. I need three runs and 5 downspouts on my ranch-style house. I've had a couple of estimators come by and they presented me with options for either aluminum or galvalume steel materials. The aluminum is about 50% more than the galvalume. My question is, is the aluminum worth the extra cost? Obviously the steel can rust while the aluminum won't, but are there other benefits to aluminum? The steel gutters I'm replacing have to be 25 years old. Can I expect this galvalume material to last as well as the old steel gutters?
