New grass dying?

Posted by Ron on August 12th, 1999 04:47 PM

Here's one for ya all.
I spot-planted new grass in several large areas (8' by 10') in May. I live in the north east so guess I can be blamed for the drought.
I watered the areas every other day in the evening (still allowed to by hose), and the areas are slowly dying in small patches at a time.
It looks like what grubs would do. However, I used GrubX in April before planting.

The previous owner had a dog (a black lab) that used this part of the yard. There wasn't much grass their when I started.

I evened the ground with topsoil before planting. The areas came in well, looked great in June, began to dye in spots in July, and continue to spread. I have not seen any beetles or other signs of whats killing it.
Could the PH be off from urin? Could it be lack of nutrients? How to I troubleshoot this?

Lemmie know what ya think.
