New Furnaces

Posted by James Darrel on August 31st, 2002 10:50 PM

Hey Dodgeman
How you doing? Looking for a new furnace I see.
One thing you should know about Carrier, Bryant and lennox is that
they march to the beat of their own design drummer.

What I mean is your are locked into these guys for
repair parts compared to other brands Like Heil and some others.
With these, I can drive any where with in ten minutes to get an over the counter replacement
part. With Bryant ect, ect, I am looked into their propritary (gosh, hope I spelled that right)
design and have no other sources to go to in a pinch. Heil and other use parts that can be interchanged should.

the need arise.
I don't know what your comfort level is on price and I dont' mean to stick my nose whereit's unwanted, but have you considered that he price in gas consumption between
a properly sized 80percent versus a properly sized 90percent furnace is so slight that the cost of the 90percenter might be unwarranted?
When you consider that a 90 has more moving parts

and can fail more frequently and in more costly

ways than an 80, well, I would think long and hard about the extra cost of a
a 90percenter.
I am a Heil dealer, but that does not mean that I will always say that brand is the best choice for all my customers.
Not to denegrate Janitrol, but they have a dismal record on quality control and in warranty call backs. Be warned.
I hope this minor bit of input will help.
Good luck
