new furnace pop on start up

Posted by Steve Z on March 23rd, 2002 01:01 AM

Hey kids, about 2 months ago we had a new rheem 90 plus furnace installed...every once in a while upon start up she lets out quite a pop...I know whats happening but I don't know if its normal or it requires attention..Im gonna call the installers but thought I'd inquire here also..

It has a piezo sure whats happening is a little extra gas is entering the combustion chamber and when the igniter does its thing it's igniting the residual gas - letting us know about happens aprox 1-2 times a day..that we hear, anyway..all I can say is, when it happens you know it...scares the heck out of ya..specially if your anywhere near the furnace..

Is this anything to be concerned about?? Will I be around in the morning or will I get blown into the next city??..Thanks in advance for any input..
