New fixtures for an old house.

Posted by Bill B. on March 9th, 2002 01:37 PM

My home was built in 1962 and most of the light fixtures are original. I wanted to repalce them but all the new ones carry a warnning concerning the temp rating on the field wiring (90 vs.60). I'm not about to start ripping out my walls to run all new wiring, and all the home center says is,well thats just the way they make light fixtures now... My response was who needs to repalce thier fixtures more, the person with a new home or someone with a 40 year old home?
Please any ideas would be apprieciated, my wife is ready to start looking for a new build!
