New ACQ wood-is it good?

Posted by MB on March 24th, 2003 05:03 PM

Just got back from Home Depot. They tell me that they are no longer going to be carrying the old type of pressure treated lumber, but they have a new ecologically safe type called ACQ. Supposedly it doesn't have arsenic, etc. However, in checking prices with Lowes, they told me that they won't sell it yet because it has problems with mold. They showed me a few pieces that they had ordered and they looked pretty bad. Home Depot has lots of it and it looked fine. (Expensive though...$5.79 each for 2x4s)Any thoughts from y'all?
