Nails popping through drywall

Posted by Joel B. on February 14th, 2001 11:08 PM

My house was built in 1967. I have many nails popping through the drywall, most haven't popped all the way through yet, but there is a bump where they are starting to push through the drywall. What is the best way to fix these? I had originally thought the nails were coming loose and working themselves out, but when I try to pull them out it takes all my "might" to get them out. They were certainly not loose. Can I just pound them in further, spackle over them, and put a couple drywall screws close by, or should I get the nails out? I probably have another 80 or so to do and my hands are getting sore already!

Thank you for any information,
