If you look at the different brad nailers you will find that they all handle different size brads in 18 gauge material up to 1 1/4" generally. These nailers are generally for tacking lite projects and where you are gluing. Finishing nailers will handle larger size nails in a heavier guage (16) and will hold anything that you expect a regular finishing nail would do. If your going to do any furniture projects than I would recommend the narrow stapler that will handle 1 1/2 staples. Sears handle a good product but they are not generally very competitive unless they are on sale (at least in Canada their not). I personally have a 1" brad and a 1 1/2" stapler and this handles most of my needs. Would like a finishing nailer but can't justify it to my SWMBO (just yet). Willy
